Acclamation

Q:  Is there a rubric in the NAB Lectionary (or the Canadian one) that specifies exactly what the people’s response is for the verse before the gospel during Lent?  Or is it at the cantor’s discretion?

The Australian & English Lectionaries have one of four different options embedded with the verse of the day.  I’m interested why the difference in Lectionaries between countries.

A:  It’s the cantor’s discretion. Even in Latin the daily mass readings include the versicle but not the acclamation. I’m not sure why the lectionaries in other countries plugged one in. Maybe to make it more user-friendly and to ensure that the full variety of options would be used.
