Anniversary of the dedication

Q: The anniversary of the dedication of my parish church is coming up soon. My rectory is owned by the parish but is over a mile away from the church building.

When I see collects in the Divine Office distinguishes between those prayed within the church and those prayed outside the church. Does this “inside” and “outside” refer to the actual sanctuary, the entire church building, or any building owned by that parish?

A: That terminology refers more to a situation like the celebration in the parish of the anniversary of the dedication of its cathedral. The Dedication of the Lateran Basilica is another example.

In your case, your rectory is considered “inside” the church for the sake of the liturgy of the hours.
