Avoiding anti-Judaism

In Paul Turner's Blog by Paul Turner

Q: I read your post with great interest https://paulturner.org/antisemitism/; avoiding anti-Judaism in teaching and preaching is a topic near and dear to my heart.

I have collected a number of resources on our website (https://www.davenportdiocese.org/preaching-links#AvoidingAntiJudaism), including a running bibliography of helpful texts (https://www.davenportdiocese.org/documents/2022/4/litSelectBibliography-PreachingAndJudaism.pdf). It is telling that the CBA has released a set of “fact sheets” to address typical areas of misunderstanding that catechists and preachers have about Judaism. It is a tragedy (and a travesty) that our official documents on the Scriptures, on Jewish-Christian relations, and on how to present Judaism in our classrooms and ambos, are so rarely read and so poorly understood and internalized (see: https://religionnews.com/2023/03/23/survey-catholic-biblical-literalists-more-likely-to-have-anti-jewish-views/).
