Bishop Ordination

In Paul Turner's Blog by Paul Turner

Q:  At the ordination mass of our new bishop, the archbishop of another diocese presided over the liturgy of the word and the ordination, but the newly ordained bishop presided over the liturgy of the eucharist. Is that right?

A:  They did it correctly. If the ordination is taking place in the cathedral where the new bishop will be serving as the Ordinary, then he takes over as the presider for the liturgy of the eucharist. It’s in paragraph 27 of the introduction to the rite of ordination of a bishop.
