Q: I work at a Catholic senior living institution. A lady here volunteers to work at the front desk during our one Sunday Mass if the hired worker cannot come in. The lady asks me to bring her Communion while she is on duty. She is not sick and could drive to another Mass later. Is it okay for me to give her Communion?

A: Authority for distributing communion at the home ultimately falls to the chaplain on site or the pastor of the parish in which the building is located. You really should consult one of them. But I’m with you that the volunteer should participate at Mass someplace else. The Sunday obligation is for Mass, not communion.
