Church postures

Q: I read your pod frequently and share them with the priests and deacons at the parish.

During Covid 19, we have been having our masses in the school gym and the parish hall due to our Church under renovations and additional masses needing to be added.

This Sunday we had a celebration with our Bishop of blessing of the Church which was wonderful and very inspiring.

Anyway, as we now move back into the Church, I am wondering if you could recommend a resource for Church postures that would be helpful to share with the parish community?  Being in the school gym highlighted some interesting practices and we want to gently get folks back on track!

So, any resources that would assist us via Staff and congregation are most appreciated.

A: Thanks for your comments on my blog.

I’ve written two sets of bulletin inserts on postures.

You can find one set with the Federation of Diocesan Liturgical Commissions here: https://fdlc.org/publications/44930

I’ve written a complete set of inserts on a variety of topics for Liturgy Training Publications here:  https://www.ltp.org/products/details/ILPP/bulletin-inserts-for-the-liturgical-life-of-the-parish?fbclid=IwAR1Gs-uurZL-mcCKkbwvoZMdPAGo6e-n5OzJ8BK8ph2DFd2k9h_cdtM6Iu4.

If you scroll down, you’ll see that you can just order the ones on gestures, postures and practices of liturgy.

The first set is more expensive, but it also contains more content on each of the gestures, giving more history and catechesis.

Congratulations on returning to the parish church!
