Q: The elderly Methodist mother of a Catholic in my parish has dementia. The Catholic daughter says that her mother shares our belief in the eucharist. When the mother comes to church, she wants to receive communion and becomes agitated because she cannot. May I give communion to her?

A: If your bishop agrees. The permissions in the Directory for the Application of Principles and Norms on Ecumenism may apply here. Here’s a related post: https://paulturner.org/communion-to-a-non-catholic/.
