Communion posture

Q: I know we corresponded on Communion posture before, but read the attached minutes from our recent presbyteral council meeting. They are actually PUSHING the kneeling at Communion. I tell ya— it is so frustrating that we can even take Communion — making it into a time of division.

A: I cannot agree with the remark in those minutes that in the United States both kneeling and standing for communion are “legitimate and equal options.” How somebody gets that out of GIRM 160 is a mystery to me. “The norm established for the Dioceses of the United States of America is that Holy Communion is to be received standing, unless an individual member of the faithful wishes to receive Communion while kneeling.”
