Q: Hi Fr. Paul,
We had a scenario come up in conversation within our OCIA team recently, and it was recommended that we reach out to you for your expert advice!
If someone is a baptized Catholic, but they have not received sufficient catechesis, when is the best time of year for them to complete their Initiation? What about baptized non-Catholics looking to be received into Full Communion? It seems as though the answer is always some version of “when they’re ready.” Given that so many lapsed Catholics and Christians have varying degrees of involvement and experience when it comes to the Mass, Church teachings, etc. how do you approach evaluating their “readiness” and helping them to prepare with intention?
