Q: I believe that Sacramentary suggested no Gospel Acclamation before the proclamation of the Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ on Palm Sunday and Good Friday.
The missal now reads, “The narrative of the Lord’s Passion is read without candles and incense, with no greeting or signing of the book…”
Do we use a Gospel Acclamation or not? The practice at the parish has been to have silence until the actual narrative begins.
Thank you.

A: The gospel acclamation is and always has been part of the liturgies on Palm Sunday and on Good Friday. The lectionary provides the words. I have a short commentary on these acclamations in my book Glory in the Cross.
