Kiss the lectionary

In Paul Turner's Blog by Paul Turner

Q:  All references to acts of reverence for the gospel say ‘The Book of the Gospel’. If the gospel is proclaimed from the lectionary (daily Mass) , is the kiss omitted or not?

===

A:  Kiss the lectionary.

GIRM 133 admits a circumstance when the book of the gospels is not being used. GIRM 134 instructs the priest to kiss “the book”. It means either the lectionary or the book of the gospels.
