Q: I’m trying to track down the musical notation for the three alternative Latin dismissal texts but it has been difficult to track down. Would you be able to help?
The dismissals are:
—Ite ad Evangelium Domini annuntiandum.
—Ite in pace, glorificando vita vestra Dominum.
—Ite in pace.

A: I see the same omission you see. For some reason the Latin missal did not include musical notation for those three formulas.
They were all added to the revised third edition in 2008. The 2002 third edition did not have them. I’m told that Pope Benedict himself composed them.
It could be that as the Vatican was correcting errors from the 2002 edition and making a few adjustments to it, it just added the extra formulas without going through the process of having them set to music.
