Q: We will be hiring a Liturgist very soon. We were discussing qualifications and responsibilities for the position, but we a bit stumped when it came to the actual interview of a candidate. How would you envision such a session proceeding? Oral interview? Some type of demonstration of writing skills? (samples of Prayers of the Faithful?) Knowledge of GIRM, etc? Musical ability?
Any ideas that you may be able to share are most welcome.

A: These are all good ideas. It just depends on what you’re looking for. Candidates could submit sample Prayers of the Faithful as part of the application process. As well as an mp3 file of their musical talent.
I go a lot on experience: what have you done? what skills did you use? Name a difficult situation you had to deal with. That sort of thing.
