Q: Are there any specific guidelines concerning appropriate Mass intentions. I’m thinking about an intention like, “for the intentions of John Smith.” If I don’t know his intentions, how can I pray for them? Also, can a Mass have multiple intentions if they are requested by the same person?

To your question, there’s nothing to stop John Smith from having us pray for his intentions, but it would be courteous for him to let us know what they are.
