Thank you, Fr. Paul, for all you do!
Q: My parish school would like to do a Mass of the Holy Spirit to inaugurate a new school year. We have it scheduled for September 9, the memorial of Peter Claver. IS it permissible to do a votive Mass for the Holy Spirit rather than St. Peter Claver for a pastoral advantage? Thank you!

A: You may, according to GIRM 376, as long as “some real necessity or pastoral advantage calls for it, in the estimation of the rector of the church or the Priest Celebrant himself.”
