Mass to Adoration – Updated

In Paul Turner's Blog by Paul Turner

Q: Fr. Paul, in a recent post titled “Mass to Adoration” https://paulturner.org/mass-to-adoration/ you clarified some things regarding omitting the blessing and dismissal at the end of Mass when Adoration follows immediately, and when the blessing with the monstrance should be done.  As usual, this was all very helpful.

My question has to do with when to place the lunette into the monstrance.  You mentioned at the end of the post that you place the newly consecrated Host into the lunette and then place it in the tabernacle.  Do you then take it from the tabernacle after the Prayer after Communion to begin Adoration?  What I have often seen is the lunette with the Host remain on the altar after Communion, along with the empty monstrance.   Then after the Prayer after Communion, it is placed in the monstrance, and Adoration begins.  Or, the lunette is placed in the monstrance after Communion and before the Prayer after Communion.  Then Adoration begins after the Prayer.

Lots of options!  Can you please clarify how this should be done?

A: Yikes. I put the wrong word there!

I don’t put it in the tabernacle. I put it in the monstrance.

I’ll correct the posted version. The newly consecrated host goes into the lunette before communion, into the monstrance after communion and before the Prayer after Communion, and then into the tabernacle only after adoration and benediction are completed.
