Q: As you know, in 2026, the 13th of June presents us with two obligatory memorials…Immaculate Heart and St. Anthony…
My local Ordo has them “cancelling each other out” (my term) – where they both lose their obligatory status and become optional memorials.
Is that how it normally works in a particular “clash” scenario of this type?

A: This only happens with the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
When the calendar was revised, it became an optional memorial, which means, in a year like this, Anthony would take precedence and Mary presumably would understand because she has a lot more days on the calendar than Anthony does. 🙂
But recently it was made obligatory, which raises the problem we have this year: Two obligatory memorials both made optional, allowing you to ignore them both. There’s nothing else like it in the calendar.
