Parish anniversary mass

In Paul Turner's Blog by Paul Turner

I am trying to figure out what Mass to use (and which readings) for the celebration of the anniversary of our parish. The Mass is scheduled for a weekday evening in Ordinary Time.  The ordo indicates that any Mass is possible.  However, I am not sure which Mass would be most appropriate (and what readings we might be able to choose).

Can you provide some guidance here?

Thanks so much.

A: I’d go with a mass of thanksgiving. See the very last of the missal’s masses for various needs and occasions, 49B “Other Prayers”. The lectionary’s selections you probably know from Thanksgiving Day options.

An alternative would be a votive mass for the patron saint of the parish.

Or a mass for the Family (VNOC 12 in the missal).
