Penitential Act

In Paul Turner's Blog by Paul Turner

Q: Thank you for sharing your knowledge on liturgy, Father Turner.  You are so helpful!

Should the Penitential Act be omitted on Easter Sunday morning since the Renewal of Baptismal Promises takes place after the homily?

May God continue to bless you in your ministry!

A: The renewal of baptism promises is required at the Easter Vigil, but it is optional in the US at Easter Sunday morning masses. If you take the option, then I advise doing a penitential act as usual at the beginning of that those masses, rather than replacing it with the rite of blessing and sprinkling of water.

Thanks for your comments on my blog.
