Permission to confirm

In Paul Turner's Blog by Paul Turner

Q:  Does the pastor need the Bishop’s permission to confirm a candidate during a Full Profession of Faith at a Sunday Mass? (This a non Catholic, baptized Christian.)

A:  No. The faculty comes from the law. Once the bishop has appointed him pastor, the law gives him faculty to confirm a person he receives into the full communion of the church. The faculty is associated with the ceremony, not with the date.
