Q: My parishioners who watch the livestream are asking me to lead the prayer of spiritual communion at Mass. Should I do that before or after I purify the chalice?

A: I understand that Pope Francis has been doing this after purifying the chalice. In my view, the priest should not be leading such a prayer because he has just received communion. In fact, he is the only one obliged to receive communion, so it makes little sense for him to say such words. It would be better to have someone watching the livestream post a prayer in the comment box as communion gets underway.
