Q: Someone’s asked me if it’s permissible for the priest to sit while giving the homily. GIRM 136 seems to presume that the priest stands. What do you think? Thanks in advance.

A: He stands. Even in Latin, it says stans, which is unambiguous. It probably means to distinguish what a bishop may do. He may sit to preach (Ceremonial of Bishops 142).
