Q: In the UK, at a priest’s funeral, are there words indicated when the chalice and stole are placed on the coffin as is our tradition?

A: The Order of Christian Funerals approved for England, Wales and Scotland does not specify any words to say for placing these objects at the funeral of a priest, as you have for the placing of a Book of the Gospels or a Cross in OCF 172. In this case then, you are free to improvise something.
The practice is noted in the Ceremonial of Bishops, which says that “if the deceased is an ordained minister, insignia of his order may, depending on local custom, be placed on the coffin (824).”
