Priests in residence

In Paul Turner's Blog by Paul Turner

Q: In response to your recent blog post about ordinary vs. extraordinary ministers, could you clarify – it was my understanding that priests in residence were required to assist in giving communion at Mass, if they were present on the campus – they would arrive in choir dress. I actually saw this at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in NYC.

Was this a pre-V2 rule or was it never really a rule?

A: I don’t recall this ever being a rule, but in the days before extraordinary ministers of holy communion it was more common.
