“Private” Masses – those even without a server

Q: This is a subject that has been in and out of my mind, a good bit more pertinent now that I am a “Senior”/aka (Retired) Priest.

If I am not mistaken, these acts are valid, of course, but would they be considered illicit, at the same time?

I believe reading somewhere/sometime that such Masses should not be for the convenience of the individual priest – in deference to the community… (a lot more easier said than done, in my view…also the number of Mass intentions received can be a factor…)

I also seem to remember a motu proprio (of sorts) from Pope Benedict viz. the penitential rite in such liturgies – always use the Confiteor … yes?

In these Masses, I basically use the Order of Mass, of course…at homily time I tend to read the reflection du jour from Word Among Us … always omit General Intercessions…sing the Acclamations…after Post Communion oration, I will simply bless myself (May the Lord bless us, etc.…) and then reverence the altar table.
