Q: Your prior comment on the forthcoming translation of Holy Communion and Worship of the Eucharist made me do a search for an update on progress of other ICEL translations. On the ICEL website, I see updates including the Liturgy of Hours and Anointing of the Sick, but nothing past May 2021. I have also heard that Order of Christian Initiation of Adults is to appear soon, but there seems to be a dearth of information in the past couple of years. I was wondering if you had anymore up to date insights?

A: ICEL has completed its own work on these projects, and they are progressing through the various episcopal conferences at their own pace. The Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments grants final approval for these texts.
I understand that the USCCB has held back a bit on Anointing of the Sick because it includes part of other books, such as Holy Communion and Worship, and the OCIA.
The USCCB has completed its work on the OCIA and is awaiting a response from the DDWDS. The USCCB had not yet approved the final parts of the Liturgy of the Hours, so I’m not expecting it before 2025.
