Q: From a fiscal standpoint – could it be appropriate for a parish who might not have a strong financial foundation to reuse a paschal candle if the candle is large enough to be used for an entire year? If they could remove the year and replace in a fashion that would damage or destroy the integrity of the candle?

A: There’s more integrity in getting a new candle. Remember that a parish does not have to purchase an expensive candle with decoration on it. The carving of the candle can be its decoration.
