Rite of Remembrance

In Paul Turner's Blog by Paul Turner

Q: What are your thoughts regarding the appropriate time during the All Souls Day liturgy to have the “Rite of Remembrance,” when parishes traditionally call out names and families come forward to receive a candle? I am at a new parish and I’ve seen it as before Mass, part of the gathering rite, after the homily, and post-communion.

A: What you describe does not appear in the liturgical books, so you may deduce what would be best. If it were me, I’d probably do it after the homily so that it stands on its own without trying to integrate into a set part of the mass.
