Q: I recently attended a parish Sunday liturgy where the deacon serving the liturgy wore only his diaconal stole [no alb] over his clerical “street clothes.” It struck me as entirely odd. Any rubrical observations? Thank you.

A: There is no provision for assisting at Mass with a stole and no alb. A deacon should vest properly.
