Triduum

In Paul Turner's Blog by Paul Turner

Q: Is it written somewhere that with the Triduum it’s “all or nothing” – or can there be liturgies for Holy Thursday and Good Friday but not the Easter Vigil?

The context of the question is a retirement home where it would be difficult for the residents to go elsewhere for these days, but where the logistics of the Vigil would be very difficult to carry out.

I can’t find anything in writing that would answer the question. Any thoughts?

A: In my view, the permission is implied in the Roman Missal, final rubric for the Mass of the Lord’s Supper (44).

44. If the celebration of the Passion of the Lord on the following Friday does not take place in the same church, the Mass is concluded in the usual way and the Blessed Sacrament is placed in the tabernacle.
