Q: We had a young lady who came up to receive communion with a dog at our Life Teen Mass the past two Sundays. She was respectful and reverent and did all the correct gestures in receiving the Holy Communion. I have two questions – should we allow a dog in the church and what if she is holding the dog in her arms, does this mean she can receive communion on the tongue?
I enjoy and learn a lot from your blog and thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.

A: The ritual books don’t address this situation. Probably best for someone to speak with her personally after Mass to learn more about the situation and express concerns about keeping order and reverence in the church.
