Q: A caller asked whether baptized non-Catholic adults becoming Catholic have to go to Confession before becoming Catholic.
I would appreciate knowing better the Church discipline on this matter. Please advise. Appreciate your help.

A: An unbaptized adult being baptized at the Vigil has all sins removed and hence no need for confession before first communion.
Validly baptized adults from other denominations do go to confession before they are received into the Church. This is in RCIA 482 and National Statutes 27, and in general law about first confession before first communion.
