Q: What is the support for the practice of priests coming only to distribute Communion during Mass? Is this written anywhere, including in the pre-Vatican 2 rite? Can it be inferred from anything official that has been written? If it can’t be inferred from anything written, is it currently practiced at the Vatican in Rome (i.e. do priests come to some Masses only to distribute and not to concelebrate)? Thank you.

My observation of papal liturgies is that concelebrants assist in the distribution of communion.
