Distributing communion

In Paul Turner's Blog by Paul Turner

Q:  Is it correct that formerly the rubrics instructed the priest and Eucharistic ministers to hold the host with the right hand, not left? And that current rubrics do not specify which hand must be used?  Has the idea of the right hand been left behind? If so, why?

Thank you.

A:  There are not nor have there ever been rules governing which hand to use for distributing communion. I presume that the minister best uses his or her strong hand.
