Q: We have had 3 different glass wine pitchers crack around the handle recently. It has been difficult to find an appropriate glass replacement that is not very, very heavy. We have a few older retired priests who find it difficult to lift these glass pitchers. Would a simply designed, acrylic pitcher ever be acceptable?

A: Yes. The wine being carried in a pitcher is not yet consecrated, so it may be brought to the altar any any vessel. Rules for vessels holding consecrated bread and wine are at GIRM 329 & 330, but the wine pitcher has a different purpose.
