Q: Greetings from Japan.
I have a question regarding the Mass on November 2nd, All Souls’ Day.
This year, November 2nd falls on a Sunday, and I would like to know whether the Gloria and the Creed are omitted during the Mass on this day. In the ORDO Missae celebrandae et divini officii persolvendi 2024-2025 (Libreria Editrice Vaticana), neither the Gloria nor the Creed is mentioned for November 2nd.
However, when I look at the page for November 2nd in the new Italian translation of the Roman Missal, it states, “Quando cade di domenica, si dice il Credo.”
I would appreciate your thoughts on this matter.
Best regards,

A: I agree with the Italian missal. So does the Paulist Ordo in the United States.
The creed is standard fare on Sundays, but the Gloria is not. I think of All Souls Day on a Sunday like a Lent Sunday: no to the Gloria, yes to the creed.
