Q: Is there any guidance from the church on how the humeral veil should be placed on the priest? Can a concelebrating priest assist or would it make more sense if a minister helped? Not sure if there were any rubrics on this.

A: When the Ceremonial of Bishops describes eucharistic adoration, it says that the deacon puts on the humeral veil to move the Blessed Sacrament from the tabernacle to the altar, and that the bishop puts on the humeral veil before giving benediction. The implication is that each does it himself, but I usually appreciate it if a server helps by draping it across my shoulders. I “put it on” by fastening it into place.
