We are thinking an altar server brings up and leaves the water pitcher, wash bowl and towel on altar for priest to wash his own hands so that a server doesn’t need to break social distancing to assist. Afterwards, the server would retrieve pitcher, bowl and towel. Do you see another or better possibility?

A: That’s what I do. A server sets the altar and steps away. I step up, and after bowing and praying “With humble spirit”, I step away. The server sets the bowl and towel on the altar and picks up the wine cruet, then steps aside. I step up, wash my hands by myself at the side of the altar, then move away, and the server comes back to pick up the vessels.
