Liturgy of the Word

In Paul Turner's Blog by Paul Turner

Q: What is the current liturgical viewpoint about visual material/images/slide show being projected during the Liturgy of the Word that correspond with the themes of the readings? What about projected images during the Eucharistic prayer? Is it advisable?

A: There is nothing official, so I’ll just give you my own reactions. I would not advise showing images during the Liturgy of the Word or the Eucharistic Prayer. Those parts of the mass are all about the spoken word, and visuals are going to make people interpret the word in a particular way.
For the readings, I could see putting the citation up there, such as “Mark 3:31-35”. Or the words to the refrain of the psalm. But that’s it.
Less is more.
