Q: Aloha Father! If a Priest consumes the Body of Christ but does not consume the Precious Blood from the chalice, is the Mass valid? Is there any exception to consuming from the chalice if a priest has a condition that he can’t take in any alcohol? Thank you very much for your ministry!

A: Aloha.
For questions about validity, please ask a canon lawyer.
This I can tell you: The church considers mustum to be valid matter. A priest who cannot tolerate alcohol may use that product. With permission of the Ordinary, any communicant who does not drink alcohol may consume consecrated mustum. Here’s the pertinent document from 2003: https://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/congregations/cfaith/documents/rc_con_cfaith_doc_20030724_pane-senza-glutine_en.html
