Non-catholic wedding

In Paul Turner's Blog by Paul Turner

Q:  What is your view/church position on a non-Catholic Christian couple, belonging to a Pentecostal church, wanting to marry with their own authorised religious celebrant in our parish church? Neither person has been married before…the male fiancé is related to a Christian minister with whom I collaborate on various ecumenical fronts.

One viewpoint suggests the Blessed Sacrament not be present during the ceremony if it proceeds; another viewpoint suggests marriages in Catholic Churches have to be conducted according the Roman Catholic Rites.

Help, please.  Prayerful best wishes.

A:  A bishop may permit it. Look at the Vatican’s ecumenical directory, paragraphs 137-140:

It even permits a more stable sharing between Christian congregations.
