Ordo of saints

In Paul Turner's Blog by Paul Turner

Q: I know a religious community of women who want to recognize more saints in their own community calendar. Do they have to have approval to add saints to their own community ordo of saints?

A: Yes, to change their ordo, they go through a process outlined in Calendaria particularia, which can be found in Documents on the Liturgy 481. However, if the saints they wish to honor are in the martyrology, and they should be, they could be honored with a votive celebration on any open weekday not impeded by a feast or solemnity. Still, a formal decree of a new ordo may provide other options, such as observing such saints even on a Sunday in Ordinary Time.
