Q: Dear Good and Holy, Fr. Paul
We recently joined a few parishes together in a pastorate. One of the parishes has the practice of only presenting one ciborium with about half of the hosts that are to be consecrated.
The other churches present two ciboria, each with about half of what is to be concentrated.
My question is, is it OK to symbolically only present part of the gifts to be consecrated, or is it preferable to present all of the gifts that are going to be concentrated?
We are not talking about large stadium type masses where it is impractical to present all of the gifts, but generally attendance of less than 400 or so.
Likewise, I’ve always preferred to present all of the wine to be consecrated at the mass, and not have some wine pre-staged in the presider’s cup.
Am I being too picky on this?

A: The missal hopes that the people will receive communion from bread consecrated at the same Mass (GIRM 85).
The presider’s chalice is to be filled during the preparation of the gifts, wine poured from a cruet or flagon.
