Q: Many priests seem to regard it as their job to lead the response to the acclamation after the Words of Institution, but it seems to me that the acclamation belongs to the congregation, they are responding to the invitation, and therefore they should be left to do it. This can become a practice if there is an acclamation number on the hymn board of if there is somebody in the congregation instructed to lead it off or it could be led by one of the ministers at the altar, acolyte e.g.
A: You are 100% correct on this. It’s a dialogue. The priest says his line, and the people should respond.
