Q: This year as the First Sunday of Lent falls on a long weekend in Australia, we plan to transfer the Rite of Election to the Second Sunday of Lent. Which readings do we use? First Sunday or Second Sunday of Lent?

A: If the Rite of Election is taking place at Mass on the Second Sunday of Lent, then you use the readings of the Second Sunday of Lent. If it takes place outside of Mass, you are free to choose other readings.
