Rite of Election in the Parish

In Paul Turner's Blog by Paul Turner

Q:  In a post from early March, you mentioned that you though that the Rite of Election should be celebrated in the parish.  Can you elaborate?  Seeing the “whole church” come together has a big impact on catechumens.  Mystagogy  masses have not been very well attended for us.

A:  Here’s an article I wrote a few years ago: https://paulturner.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/Rite-of-Election-2-Questions.pdf. In brief, having the bishop celebrate the eucharist with neophytes would be far more expressive of the diocesan church than having him preside over election.
