Q: We are going to have the Rite of welcoming and acceptance this weekend for our RCIA. I know it is not ideal to combine the rite, but unfortunately we don’t have a choice.
My question is do we omit the penitential rite, Gloria and collect for Mass once we conclude the signing of the senses and concluding prayer?

A: The RCIA and missal don’t answer this question because they think that these rites are happening outside of Mass. When doing it during Mass, I usually omit the penitential act and the Gloria (which is omitted anyway during Advent), and then add the collect of the Mass, which really should be prayed.
