Q: With all of the translation work going on, is there any hope that the Roman Martyrology will be translated into English?
==
A: Yes, there is. ICEL is at work on it.
The project is extremely large and detailed. ICEL has raised many questions about the data within the Latin typical edition. (Who are these saints? What is the precise place where they lived and died? The precise dates?) These have to be resolved before a responsible English translation is ready.
ICEL is concerned that the project is requiring so much time that the expense of completing it will be unusually large. However, it is a book that needs to be translated. Personally, I think there will be much more interest in this than ICEL realizes.
