Rose again

On the question of the translation “rose again“, the Oxford English Dictionary lists as an archaic meaning of the word “again” the definition “back to or towards the point of starting” and includes the following example as one of the numerous citations of this meaning.  “The God of peace, that brought againe from the dead our Lord Iesus,” from the King James Version of the Epistle to the Hebrews. (s.v. “again” I.1.b.).  I don’t know the history of English translations of the Apostles’ Creed, but the explanation of “rose again” may have as much to do with a meaning of “again” that we don’t encounter any more as it does with the Latin text.
