Q: Some of the questions that seem to crop up on your blog frequently really bother me. They seem to display an obsession with trivia and/or a lack of awareness.
The first thing to ask with such a question surely is “What does this signify?” & then “For what reason would we change it”?
Asking for rubrics to justify this, that & every little thing is worse than the nit-picking Pharisees whom Christ condemned, surely!

A: Thank you for this reminder.
I sometimes catch myself slipping into the rubrics trap. I have an opportunity to share more with people beyond what the book says. Many Catholics are overly obsessed with rubrics. There is meaning and beauty beyond them.
